Qi Sha in Happiness

Translated from here.

Qi Sha is a star signifying 凶 xiōng = inauspicious, ominous; unproductive, threatened with famine, bad for crops; ferocious, fierce; fearful, terrible; act of violence, murder. But, if this star is in either Shen or You, it can instead be lucky and fortunate.

When Qi Sha is in this palace there is much 凶 xiōng. And 凶 is moreover deepened.

Qi Sha in the Happiness and Virtue palace means that the individual has to labour and work hard; there are pains, toil, great care or effort.

Throughout his or her life the person has to give priority to work. Both toward him- or herself and other people the native is harsh, severe, strict and pitiless. Consequently there is a disequilibrium in the individual's heart and innermost being. There is the occurrence of 自尋煩惱 zìxúnfánnǎo = to worry oneself needlessly; to torture oneself with unpleasant thoughts; to bring vexation on oneself.

If Qi Sha is in this palace in the chart of a woman, and without other stars present, her notion of virtue and honour and moral integrity is rather weak. She'll easily sink into 風塵 fēngchén = wind and dust - travel fatigue, rigour of travelling around; hardships or uncertainties in an unstable society, especially in the officials' circle; prostitution, the life of a prostitute; chaos caused by war. Throughout her life she has to toil and work hard.

Qi Sha and Zi Wei: The early years are toilsome. The native has to be constantly on the move and rush about. When old the individual can live in comfort and ease.

Qi Sha and Wu Qu: Life and Living is not stable and quiet and calm and orderly. The person becomes exhausted both physically and mentally. The native's share of happiness and good luck is small.

Qi Sha and Lian Zhen: The individual is incessantly running this way and that; to run or rush here and there (looking for jobs, earning a livelihood, trying one's hand at stuff, etc.); to rush about busily. There isn't good fortune and happiness for the person to enjoy.

Hi Viktor, for me the Chinese text seems to say if Qi Sha is the only major star in the Happiness palace of a woman, her sense of honor or moral integrity is weak. She can easily become a prostitute and will have to labor and toil throughout her entire life.

I don't think this description is accurate though. I have this configuration in my happiness palace, but I've never had any desire to become a prostitute! I work as a web developer and am applying to graduate school for computer science. The Chinese text sounds like it was taken directly from old books. In dynastic China women were basically slaves and treated like commodities to be sold. They were not allowed to leave the house much less have a job, so prostitution was the only option for women that wanted independence and freedom. For women the desire to become a prostitute probably came from a desire to rebel against the punishing social norms at the time.

Probably a more modern (and less sexist) interpretation of this is that a person with only Qi Sha in their happiness palace may have a weaker sense of moral integrity and a stronger drive for independence compared to most people. Personally, I am not above cheating on a test where the grade can mean the difference between getting accepted or rejected to a good school. I also hated being restricted by my parents and did many things they did not agree with.

Hello.

Thanks for your thoughts on the issue.

I have amended the translation. I have consulted the dictionaries, and instead of only writing prostitution I have added 風塵 and put in all the meanings. 風塵 can mean several things, not only prostitution. Prostitution is only one of the meanings. 風塵 should of course have been included from the start.
